Is traditional therapy just not feeling like a good fit anymore?

You’ve done the work. You’ve learned the skills. But something is still holding you back.

You don’t have the time to devote to weekly therapy sessions

You may be a busy professional, a pastor’s wife, or a mom juggling the care of multiple other humans. You know you need help and that something needs to change but, you can’t imagine fitting in a regular weekly appointment. There literally isn’t any more time.

You’re seeking deeper, more concentrated healing

Perhaps you have tried therapy, maybe multiple times. And while you feel better for a while, the changes never seem to last. Maybe you even learned some good tools and found them helpful, when you could remember to do them in the moment. Or maybe you feel there is some invisible barrier standing in the way of your progress, something that you never quite get to in a typical weekly session. Whatever the reason, you are feeling ready for a different way of addressing the same old problem, a way that will shift the story once and for all.

You’re in the right place.

Trauma Restorying Intensives can help you accomplish in just a few days what may take months in traditional therapy.

What is an intensive?

An intensive is a format for working together with a therapist or coach, allowing for several hours scheduled together at one time. Intensives are growing in popularity, as clients are recognizing the speed with which they can achieve their goals, when focused on in this more targeted way.

Intensives can be especially helpful for women who are busy and have a hard time scheduling regular weekly sessions, for professionals with demanding schedules, for couples juggling multiple responsibilities and priorities, and for college students who are only home for a limited amount of time during school breaks. With an intensive, only one time needs to be planned for and the kind of growth possible can sometimes eliminates the need for ongoing therapeutic support.

Intensives are also especially helpful for clients with deeper and more tender issues, who struggle with the interruptive nature of weekly therapy. It can take awhile to get comfortable again at the start of each new session and often, by the time one is ready to start the real work, the session is wrapping to a close. Intensives offer the kind of deeper focus that is necessary for clients to truly feel safe.

Trauma Restorying Intensives are integrative. People often can know something in their mind without feeling or experiencing the truth of it. A Trauma Restorying Intensive brings those two ways of knowing together through a unique combination of evidence based interventions and practices, developed out of psychology and neurobiology and delivered through the lens of biblical faith.

Together we will look at the beliefs and stories that have been keeping you stuck and update your deeper brain with a felt knowledge that these stories are no longer true and that you are safe to move forward in a new way.

Restorying Intensives heal and promote growth while also providing a foundation of understanding for why and how we get stuck and what to do about it in the future. Clients who attend an intensive will not only heal in the moment but have the skills to continue healing and growing as they move forward in life.

1

Pre-Intensive Interview

I will provide you with a comprehensive workbook to complete ahead of this meeting and use throughout your retreat. It is a great way to spend some intentional time focusing your thoughts prior to our work. We will use this as the foundation for our first conversation and my customization of your most effective retreat experience.

And, if in the course of our meeting, it feels clear that a more traditional format for therapy might serve you better, you will leave with a strong foundation for future work with another provider. I will also provide referrals and recommendations to help you in this process.

If you do continue with a Trauma Restorying Intensive, the pre-intensive interview fee will be applied towards your total package costs.

Intensive
Sessions

We will meet together for your rest, accelerated healing and deep growth for lasting change. I will provide a safe and compassionate space for you to process and heal trauma, updating the story that your brain has been telling you and teaching your deeper brain a better and truer story to trust.

Whether online or in person, this can be a rest filled time set aside just for you to grow and heal, make sense of the past, and begin to move forward with clarity and joy.

I love witnessing the deep transformations that people can experience when given the time and space necessary for change to take place.

3

Post-Intensive Follow-Up

An hour or less, typically scheduled for a few weeks after your intensive ends, in which we meet together to review the outcomes of our work together, celebrate progress and growth, and plan for any future follow up.

For my two day and three day intensives, you will also have a month of access to me via email or Voxer, in which you can check in, share updates and ask any questions that may arise.

Other intensive questions? I’ve got answers.

  • All intensives are available online. In person intensives are planned on a case by case basis and depend on a variety of factors, including available venue and proximity to therapist. These can sometimes include an extra charge (worked out and anticipated ahead of time) for the booking of venue and travel arrangements.

Often clients like to create a true retreat feel by booking a bed and breakfast or staying at a family vacation home to truly get away. In these cases, we can meet via telehealth in the morning for our intensive hours and then clients can have the rest of the day to enjoy their chosen location and allow time and space for further integration of mind, body and spirit.

    • Women who are functioning in their current lives but would love to finally heal stuck trauma, thus setting the foundation for lives of greater hope and joy.

    • An intensive may be good for you if cannot fit regular therapy into your schedule but you know that something needs to change.

    • A Re-story Retreat may be for you if you are currently working with a mental health professional and want to set aside some time to finally get to the root of an issue that keeps coming up and getting in the way of progress and growth. A therapeutic intensive can provide new energy and effectiveness to the work you are doing with a regular therapist.

  • Based on your initial interview (part of an intensive package), I will customize our time to fit your personal growth style. I typically blend together and draw from Brainspotting, Trauma Informed Hypnosis, CPT, PRT, Art, Music, and Play in shaping my work with people. If you have any questions about any of these modalities, you can learn more about some of them on my resources page and I am also happy to share more on a consultation call.es here

  • Intensives are not suitable for clients who are actively suicidal or who require the ongoing care of a clinical counselor.

If, however, you have a primary clinical therapist, that is overseeing your care in an ongoing therapeutic relationship, and you are interested in an intensive as an adjunctive service, I would be happy to collaborate with your provider towards that possibility.

  • Intensives are especially good for focused trauma healing, personal identity formation, and providing extra time to process upcoming or recent major life transitions.

  • Once we decide to work together, there will be a workbook that is necessary to fill out prior to your pre intensive interview.

After that the only prep work is to take care of yourself each day after your intensive session and in advance of the next. Deep brain healing work and story transformations require time for integration of new experiences and a spacious and calming environment.

  • Change can happen in the blink of and eye and change can take years. Intensives will shift your story in transformative ways, but as with any creative and collaborative process, outcomes cannot be determined ahead of time.

Often clients feel immediately different as a result of our time together, reporting calm and a greater sense of hope and joy. Typically, these benefits continue to build over the days following our work together, as the brain continues to rewire and create new patterns for growth and change.

  • Restorying Intensives are not covered by insurance because insurance requires a diagnosis to justify coverage and diagnosis is not part of this service.

Intensives are considered an adjunctive therapeutic service and not a comprehensive clinical treatment strategy.

Clients may use all major credit cards, often including HSA/FSA cards for payment.
